A$AP Twelvyy Lays Down a Christmas Classic on “12 Days of X-Mas”

Hip-hop isn’t known for its Christmas songs, but A$AP Twelvyy is trying to change that. On Thursday (Dec. 21), the A$AP Mob rapper put his own spin on a Christmas classic, dropping “12 Days of X-Mas.”

Flipping the hook, Twelvyy raps, “12 drummers drummin’/11 forty-somethings/10 up on my level.” The rapper continues the hook over the Tyler Dopps instrumental, spitting, “Five for all my zombies/Four in different in colors/Three I got for mommy/Two give these for Bari/And I need me an Atari.”

Twelvvy keeps the holiday-inspired lines going throughout the song, rapping towards the end, “Dashing through this paper/Angels in the snow/I dream of acres/The season of the giving got my feeling greater/Happy holidays, you got a year to savor.”

In August, Twelvyy dropped his long-awaited debut album, 12. The project includes a number of guest appearances including features from A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, Joey Bada$$, Flatbush Zombies and Fredro Starr.

Leading up to the album’s release, XXL caught up with the rapper, who explained why it took so long for the project to drop. “I think it was my personal confidence,” Twelvyy said. “My mentality. I just wasn’t feeling it. I lost my best friend. I lost the main person that wanted me to make music, you know? Aside from everybody in the Mob, Yams wanted me to make music before anybody. Without him being there, I was like, Why am I doing this? It’s not even going to be fun for me with him not here.”
